James D’Ambrosio

James D’Ambrosio is a progressive communications professional with significant experience in the public sector, including managing a one-person PR office for a large public school system with over 1,000 employees and 7,000 students, contributing to the office of external relations as a staff writer/college assistant at a college within the City University of New York, and working as a program coordinator for a mental health nonprofit. Recognized with awards for service and dedication, Mr. D’Ambrosio belongs to the Public Relations Professionals of Long Island (PRPLI) and the New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON).

Holding an M.A. in communication, B.F.A. in oral communication, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management, he has a strong desire to promote humanitarian causes positively impacting the lives of those in need. Placing a high value on professional development, James attends workshops at The Support Center For Nonprofit Management in New York City and attends regional nonprofit conferences.

A native and current resident of  New York’s Long Island, he comes from a family of teachers: both parents taught elementary school; his brother is a school media specialist; and his sister teaches journalism. Growing up in a household focused on concern for others, it was natural to work in the public sector.

Outside of work, James spends time with his 11-year old nephew, Eric, reads widely, attends sporting events, and travels occasionally. Mr D’Ambrosio is also an animal lover, with a soft spot for Labrador Retrievers, finding them excellent companions with superior intelligence. His taste in music includes classic rock from the ’70s and ’80s — Billy Joel, Elton John, and Simon and Garfunkel.
