華特迪士尼在二十二歲時隻身從堪薩斯到好萊塢闖天下，當時誰也沒想到會因此造就一個娛樂王國的誕生！半個多世紀以來，迪士尼動畫一直帶給全世界歡樂，儘管娛樂本質不變，但在拍攝技巧、內容取材、音樂等方面，迪士尼作品也有頗多變化，大致可分為以下幾個時期：

    * 開創時期（１９３７—１９４２）
    * 戰間調整時期（１９４３—１９４９）
    * 黃金時期（１９５０—１９６６）
    * 蟄伏摸索時期（１９６７—１９８８）
    * 第二黃金時期（１９８９以後）

『華特迪士尼動畫片廠』（Walt Disney Animation Studios）製作的作品，就被稱為是迪士尼的『經典動畫』（CLASSICS）。
